Debit Gift Cards September 12, 2016    I was given a debit Gift Card of $25.00. Nice, huh? Twenty-five bucks. Loved it.    Until....    I turned it over to my server at a nice restaurant in payment for my fine repast. I added some cash for the tip.    She stopped me as I was headed out the door.    “Ma’am,” she says, “You owe me $4.17.”    “Huh?”    “Yes, ma’am. There was only $20.83 on your Gift Card.”    “But it was for $25.00. It says so right there on the front.”    “But it only had $20.83 on it.” She showed me the receipt.    Terribly chagrined, I gave her the additional money and left.    Question: Did the $25.00 Gift Card actually have only $20.83 on it? Or was the restaurant’s register malfunctioning?    And did either of them do it on purpose? –Rachell Elaine Jackson
